Peacebuilding Requires Action!

Picture
Our whole class visited the US Institute of Peace on January 15, 2013.  Although we know a little already about peace, we want to work with like-minded people who are also trying to make the world a better place.  This CAN be done, but ACTION is required.  Its not enough to talk about, although discussion and dialogue is good.

Our instructor today taught us so many things.  We learned important terminology and concepts about peacebuilding, including what conflict resolution and peacebuilding mean, qualities of a peacebuilder, and how to develop a peacebuilding plan.  We also learned about some famous peacebuilders such as Martin Luther King, Jr. and President Obama, both of whom have won Nobel Peace Prizes.

But it's not simply up to leaders to work towards building peace.  Its up to everyone!

Cooperation

No single person or organization can build peace by itself.  It requires cooperation and the efforts of many.  We are just one group dedicated to peacebuilding, but we are so happy to have met people today who are also dedicated to that goal.  We hope our relationships with other groups will continue to grow and that we will make new friends along the way!
